Craze Spotlight: Rumors Boutique

Every time the Craze ladies visit Richmond, stopping by Rumors Boutique is always a must! It’s one of our fave boutiques and they always have one-of-a-kind and stylish pieces. The store has such a cool and unique atmosphere with hype music and crazy decorations.

We had the chance to sit down with the owners and they’re just as cool as their store! We met inside this cute little pub right down the street from the store for drinks and food.

Casey and Marshe

Here they are in front of their store =)

They met in 2003 at a party and the next day had a lemonade stand to make enough money for Chinese food. They ended up becoming best of friends and after graduation decided to live off of pretzels and white rice to save up for their boutique.

They opened in 2007 and started out as boutique selling independent designer clothes from several different countries. They had lines from South Africa, Belgium, Finland, Tokyo and France. They would have real live bands play in their store and even sleep there sometimes. They would also throw parties and have fundraisers.

But after still being broke months later, the owners decided to revamp and transform the store into Richmond’s first thrift boutique. It was a success! They added consignment to the mix and Rumors Boutique became a HUGE hit for a shopping spot in Richmond.

Needless to say, their story is unique and quite similar to ours. We are all close friends and are willing to do anything and everything to bring our dreams to life. They gave us some great tips and advice to improving our business and making it successful.

Sitting down and picking their brains a little was great inspiration for us to keep working hard and keep our friendship and business strong.

If you’re ever in Richmond, VA, check out Rumors Boutique at 404 North Harrison St.

Get The Look For Less

Today on CNN, CNN Newsroom anchor Carol Costello had on this beautiful pink tie-neckline blouse, which is totally in this season.

We couldn’t catch Carol in this blouse but we did find a similar blouse:

We loved the color and the tie and to be honest, everyone should have one of these in their closet to dress up or down with a nice skirt, pair of jeans or high-wasited dress pants.
This Rachel Zoe Silk Tie-Neck Blouse retails at Neiman Marcus for $260.00.
We know, we know. It was out of our price range too! But guess what? you can get it at Craze for $14.00. Yes, we know again.  YOU CAN’T BEAT IT!
What would you pair this piece with? Comment and let us know!

Craze Looks: Our Picks

Here are our favorite items from our new collection and how we would wear them. The collection launches tomorrow at noon. Be sure to visit the boutique at www.crazeboutique.bigcartel.com.

Chey’s Pick: Proud Mary

Proud Mary sequined jacket is just one of those pieces that immediately catch your eye. I love the black and gold sequins and loose fitting look. You can dress it up or down which makes it perfect for a night on the town, having a drink at a lounge, shopping or a lunch date with your best girlfriends.

Porter’s Pick: Dexter

This is my favorite piece because I love to be comfortable and stylish at the same time. With Dexter, you can definitely do that.

Destinee’s Pick: Pam

I remember picking this skirt up when we went shopping and insisting that we get it. I love the femininity of pleats and unique color combination. A-Line skirts are suitable for every body type and I can see this item being dressed up or down with ease.

Bri’s Pick: Pirate II

Let’s Go Pirates..! Pirate II is one of my fave pieces from our new collection for a very simple reason. Although I know my fellow ladies of Craze would beg to differ, it reminds me of the REAL HU (Hampton). That’s why I love it and subsequently, why I chose it.

Best Dressed People’s Choice Awards

Last night America tuned in to watch the People’s Choice Awards.  Twitter was set on fire with tweets of everyone’s favorite looks on the Red Carpet.  Here is a quick list of some of our favorite People’s Choice Awards Red Carpet ensembles.

Best On-Trend Color:

Demi Lovato former Disney star showed up in a peach Marchesa gown. We think Marchesa makes some of the most delicate, princess-like dresses and if we had known better in high school, prom may have been a different story!  Demi made a great choice wearing this dress because the fashion head honchos predicted pastel to be big in spring, and from the looks of it, it is.  The beadwork on the front is fantastic and gives her a very regal Greek goddess flair.  Here’s a super cute pastel Craze piece that you can add to your winter wardrobe!

Best White Dress:

Miley Cyrus wore a David Koma dress.  The V-Neck mesh made the seemingly innocent white dress a little sexiness and the rainbow lining at the bottom gave it a really funky twist.  If you like a jazzed up white piece.. Craze has just the thing for you! Click here to check it out.

Best LBD:

Lucy Hale from Pretty Little Liars wore a really vamped up version of a little black dress.  A really good look from her, we suggest taking style cues from her character Aria on PLL as well!  Here a snazzy black piece that could double as a dress from Craze.

Best Overall:

Nina Dobrev arrived at the award show in an emerald green Elie Saab dress.  The lace and sheer material gave the already stunningly colored dress interesting detail.  The Emerald is so in right now!  Are you green with envy? Get some EMERALD here at Craze.

Hey there fashionistas!

It’s getting chilly outside and I’m sure we’re all still clinging to thoughts of our summer clothing favorites and wishing we could drag them right into the fall season.  I may be speaking for myself but I still love some of my summertime garments and guess what? I turned them into transition pieces! How you ask did I do that?  I’ll tell you .. Get ready for a Lesson In Style .

1. Autumn Rush Maxi: The colors of this maxi skirt are charged up with some crazy energy.  At first glance you’d think, “This maxi is charged with summer energy.” Yes! You are right, but it can also double as a great statement skirt for the fall.  What I love about it is the ultra feminine length and willowy structure.  The best way to skirt this piece into your fall wardrobe is topping it off with a tough black leather jacket and a pair of opaque tights. Skirt: $12

2. Native Beauty Dress: The pattern of this dress is so funky and hipster chic with a sexy twist! The colors aren’t too “summer vibrant” so it won’t be hard to turn this into a cute fall outfit.  A super comfy (and chunky)  waist length cardigan would really flow well with this dress.  You can also throw on a cool crew neck sweater over the dress, and wear it as a skirt.  Include some great necklaces and you’ve got yourself a cute date night or holiday party ensemble! Dress: $20

3. Siren: This blouse is so festive and perfect for the upcoming Christmas season. Now, I want you to imagine this awesome blouse paired with mustard corduroy pants.  Then imagine yourself walking around on campus in this outfit, under the beautiful fall leaves. Picture perfect.  And no, you will not look like ketchup and mustard. Top: $13

4. Crocodile Hunter Brooch:  We all love animals and most of us keep them as pets.  As much as we think Crocodiles are um … adorable it’s safe to say they aren’t ideal pets.  This cool croc brooch can give your outfit that extra touch it may need.  I suggest a classic button down shirt and pleated skirt.  Everyone you come across will wonder, “Who’s the hot professor?.”  I’m just kidding, we don’t look old enough to be anything more than professors of style.  Brooch: $10

I hope my advice was helpful and gave some insight on transition pieces and fall trends.  I leave you with wishes of style successs.  Godspeed my fashion Jedi’s.

Craze takes Hampton University by storm!

Hey Craze fans! We’re back again with yet another inside scoop, this time from Hampton University’s Homecoming Fashion Show! Hamptonians arrived in their most fashion-forward attire strutting their stuff on and off the runway. Models ripped the runway walking to artists such as Beyonce, Kanye, Jay-Z and local artist such as John Eley and Landon. Though multiple designers were featured in the show, Craze definitely stood out among the crowd. Imagine our Native Beauty dress with a bad pair of blue suede pumps… can you say LOVE? But we can show you way better than we can tell you so enjoy!
